Well, if you have the product key on hand, then why don't you just use it!  With the deactivated version of windows, you will be limited to some personalization settings and there will be a watermark in the bottom left hand corner of the screen which will show up in some games and other applications within windows. If you have the product key, then you are avoiding these limitations by activating windows which will be tied with your hardware. 

 

EDIT: If you have the product key already on hand, WHY don't you just DAMN activate it then, its easy and simple to do!

windows keys are dirt cheap to buy, no reason not to activate it esp if you already have one.

You should probably stay deactivated then. I hear Windows keys are going to be like Bitcoins someday. If you sell yours to a miner, you'll be a gajillionzillionaire overnight!

If you don’t activate a bunch of weird shit starts happening after a little less than a year either only black screen or it won’t let you left or right click. Microsoft has said that they do this.
