SLI 1070 TI's or a single 1080 ti?

MegaLukey

Ive done some research, and it seems that slit 1070 ti's out perform 1080 ti's in every single game that I have seen them tested in (yes I know not all games support SLI). I currently have a 1070 TI, and have been considering selling it on ebay or somewhere else for $800 because thats what they are selling for thanks to miners, so im in a pickle. Im not sure if I want to sell the 1070 ti, and sit around with a down PC, while I wait for Nvidia to stock 1080 ti's and try and snag one at a price that isnt $1500. Or my other option is to sit on the current 1070 ti, and wait for nvidia to restock those and snatch one up and run SLI. Im not really in any hurry, because Im gonna custom loop my system anyway.

But basically, im gonna do a revamp of my set up and go 4K.

Any thoughts?

Me personally would get the SLI but if you did sell your card you could sell it for way more from what I have seen

Im thinking I wanna get the SLI, because

1) Im gonna get higher frames

2) I think once I custom loop it, it would looker nicer with SLI as opposed to a single card

How much have you seen them selling for?

some for 900-1200 dollars

wow, I should just sell this and wait for Nvidia to restock.

Do you have any idea when that might happen?

I'd go for the 1080Ti.  We've seen some situations where SLI will get less FPS than the same card with SLI turned off... the scaling is super inconsistent these days, plus there are lots of games where the FPS results will look better on paper but there might be stuttering or other weird things.  If you get a single 1080Ti you'll know for sure that everything will run super well.

Dual GPUs is never worth it

Also what's your display set up? If it's only 1080p 60hz just live with like a GT 1030 for now

This video should roughly show what 1070 SLI can do - and in several situations it's less than a single 1080.

Well if you say so Alex, it seems like I don't have much of a choice now!

a used 290 tier GPU or maybe even a 1050ti should be able to hold you over until next gen GPUs for 1080p gaming

Sli always looks best. Water cooled sli looks great soo but better air cooled. Assuming you can get two next gen cards at regular price, you can go that route. For 1080p a pair of 1070ti's would be great assuming the rest of the pc could keep up and the games support sli. I have multiple cards in each rig and tend to just use one anyway. Still great to look at and have the power when I need it.

SLI is performing terribly in DX12 games, and in more cases than not min frames go down with SLI vs single GPU.

Linus is my fetish.
