Difference between them is around $100.

go for a 1070Ti then.

I game at 1440p@144hz.

What would be the best card?

I'd say now is not a good time to buy graphics card, everything is inflated, but at MSRP, the 1070ti would be a better pick if you overclock it. It's only around 8% slower than an overclocked 1080 from hardwareunboxed's benchmarks.

If you don't overclock it, then they give the same value per dollar, and you can pick either of them, whichever is cheaper.

1070ti is just 5% slower than 1080 so I'd get the cheaper one. That said, never pay more than $600 for either card. Waiting is better.

I don't see how that is possible, when overclocking it will fall even further behind a 1080 this is pretty obvious, all Pascal cards top out around the same, in fact the reviews ive read have the 1070ti core topping out around 2000 - 2050 MHz, on less cores than a 1080. 1080s push the same, infact ive had mine happily sat at 2130 and 11200 memory, on more cores that's way ahead of a 1070ti

People also throw numbers around with no attached real meaning, 7% ... yes but how much faster is a 1070ti than a vanilla 1070, what is the performance gap there?

I love it when people say, "its only 7FPS faster" when you look into it, its done at 4k and is 37FPS vs 30 FPS .... xD

if you haven't seen hardwareunboxed's benchmark of 1070ti vs 1080 then you should. It depends on game engine scaling as well, and the 1080 isn't even starved of bandwith

the guy benchmarks 30+ games at 3 different resolution and 3-5 runs each bench.

that's 810 benchmarks for lowballing. If you don't trust that, then sure, suits yourself

Then ya get the 1070ti if it's way cheaper, you just have to manually OC it

But what specific models are available?

How's Vega 56 pricing/availability? As it'll potentially save you money on a free-sync display.

ZOTAC Amp and the Asus ROG STRIX cards are available.

Vega 56 is priced around $100 more than the 1070ti.

Better than I thought ye, the video I watched only shows 1440P, id like to see 4k to see how the extra bandwidth of the 1080s memory performs. Also, he dipped on silicon, as I said, I can run mine 2130mhz, albeit on water. Lastly id like to know what system hes using - i watched this:

I originally upgraded from a GTX 1070 to a GTX 1080 and if I had to do it again I probably would have gone 1070 Ti if I was tight on cash and wanted to save $80-$100 since the GTX 1070 Ti is basically a dumb downed 1080 and with overclocking basically reaches if not exceeds a 1080.  Also the jump from a 1070 to 1080 for me wasn't game changing by any means especially since I play on Ultra 3440x1440P at 100Hz.  All three cards can handle 1440P and the 1070/Ti can dapple in 4K with settings lowered and the 1080 can do some 4K mostly at 50 FPS or bellow.

So if you are doing 1080P any of these cards will crush

1440P All cards are capable of doing 60+ FPS

4K GTX 1080 but with limitations

4K 60+ FPS GTX 1080 Ti

As per price, unless you can find them for MSRP which is possible just not easy I wouldn't go out and snag any of these cards asap.  I still believe May is the earliest we will hear about Volta and a GTX 2080 could come close to $1000 MSRP.  Just keep signing up for auto restock notifications and hopefully you can score a card for MSRP or one with only a slight markup

SFF Time N-ATX V2 - Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI - AMD Ryzen 9 5800X3D - Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4090 - LG C2 OLED 42"
