Wait, you had a PC built, and they did it wrong and when you started it, it sparked / didn't start?

Because there's a chance that you can save your computer, most motherboards have basic short circuit protection. You can get some standoffs from some other computer parts store, just ask for any spares they have. Then rebuild it with standoffs.

See this is why we always tell people to build for themselves here :)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Well, i almost had something like this happen to me but then i remembered i actually went to school and got certified to build PCs and said EFF YOU prebuilt PC from a store that ended up taking money and never built the PCs and left the country. Man when people found out what happened it was one hell of a day for the store....i watched with a pack of cashews yelling "YEA, HE CANT DO THAT" to further rile up the already cursing people.

so it didn't die, it just shut down due to uncontrollable thermals. your PC is probably still good if that's the case.

The other pc shop told me that the motherboard and cpu was burned so they pulled the Pc apart and threw the motherboard and cpu away when I asked why they said it was burnt beyond repair

If they really didn't use motherboard stand offs,It would have shorted out and died a lot longer then 2 months.

It depends on where, and how much, it was making contact. If the case had any sort of elevation in the standoff area, the short could be restricted to a small area, and maybe not be constant. Depending on the level of protection the motherboard has, it could trigger an immediate shutdown, or it could lead to gradual overheating. Many years ago, I had a case that got deformed during transportation, and though we straightened it back, we didn't get it 100% as is should be. That lead to some components mounted to it not aligning as well as they should, which over tima cause arcing, and eventually the AGP slot (yes, that old :P) area burned out.

So, from an incomplete information perspective, it could be possible. Now, imagine crashing your car, taking it to the mechanic, and going back a few days later, only to find out that "it was damaged beyond repair, so we got rid of it. Your welcome..."

then that shop is the scam. they should not have disposed of your property without your consent, regardless of its condition.
