Question about DDR2 and my motherboard

So I have an older ECS MCP73VT-PM motherboard with a Q6600 in it that I'm planning to give to my friend along with some links or suggestions on other parts he should buy for a budget PC. The only thing I don't know is if the motherboard is compatible with 8GB of RAM since it only has 2 RAM slots. This website says that the motherboard supports 8GBs of RAM, but some listings on eBay say that a 2x4GB kit of DDR2 is only compatible with certain AMD chipsets. Is this true? Would I be OK throwing in something like this? Thanks!

Stay away from those AMD only memory, as it will only works with AMD system. That's why its so cheap.
