Solved

deadmoo5e

Been playing pubg with friends and we communicate over discord. They complain that my mic has a delay picking up my sound so they'll only hear the middle of my sentences. It's very annoying not being able to relay in-game information because they only hear the end of sentences. I've been trying to tweak audio settings in windows and in the discord settings (disabling audio processing in discord). Doesn't seem to help.

I'm running the audio driver windows 10 installs automatically because they asus driver makes the sound louder in one speaker than the other.

I'm using a Steelseries Siberia V2 with minijack to the front minijack port of the case

Is there some way to fix this problem?

Here's a small list of stings to try:

  • Use another mic port, if you have your headset plugged into one of the frontpanel connectors plug it into your motherboard directly and vice versa. If that helps, one of your mic ports is f'ed, or you just have to make sure that your front panel hd audio headers are plugged in all the way.
  • Try your headset on another computer, maybe your headset itself has an issue
  • Record yourself speaking with any generic recording program and listen back your recording. If you don't have any problems with the sound pickup there, your problem is with discord.
  • If the third point is the case, look at the mic threshold slider. It shows what discord is hearing at any point, so maybe you just have to lower the threshold. Additionally, you can give discord network priority or, if nothing works, use push to talk and tape down the key.

Thank you for the reply. Very comprehensive. :)

I managed to solve it on my own though. I downloaded the windows standalone discord client and lowered the sound threshold as you mentioned. Thankfully I didn't have to tape a key.
