Laptop WiFi not working - windows 10

Go to solution Solved by mike6715b,

As far as I cann tell after a one hour long talk with microsoft support they claim that it's my physical adapter that has failed. But I didn't believe them so I decided to reset my pc while keeping my files and now evwrything is working perfectly fine.

Note that my version of windows was 1709.

I've been using this laptop for about 10 months now and no problems until now. Basically, I am unable to get WiFi working meaning that I cant use wifi as if I don't have a Wireless adapter in my laptop. What can I do?
Already tried:
- Reboot
- Airplane mode ON/OFF
- Disable/Enable adapter in Device Manager
- Enable/Disable adapter in Adapter properties

Excuse me for my english as it's not my first language.
My laptop is a HP 250 G5.

Also, just in case, sry for posting here if it's the wrong place but I'm running out of ideas and need help.

u can uninstall the wifi drivers/adapter and then reinstalls it. Or else go out and buy a wifi usb adapter if reinstalling doesn't help

I would try:

  • Reinstalling your wifi drivers directly from Intel's website
  • Checking there is no physical wifi on/off switch on your laptop (Quite a common but overlooked mistake for this problem)
  • Try typing "netsh winsock reset" into command prompt, that often fixes weird errors but I'm not sure exactly what it does.

I edit my posts a lot.

Either driver messed up or the wifi card is broken. Try clean install wireless driver.

Didn't help unfortunently.

Could it really be that my wifi adapter inside my laptop died? :/

Try reinstall Windows. If it doesn't work then the wifi card might be dead.

Whoa ok then.

At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order, and then check to see if that fixes your connection problem:

  • Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
  • Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

If you want to check system files, you can run this line in Command Prompt as Admin:

sfc /scannow

I saw that you tried the airplane mode toggle. Don't know if that's the same as F4 or whatever you get on laptops for disabling /enabling wifi... if that IS the same then disregard. I just don't call it "airplane mode" as that's cell phone/tablets tech to me :)

Usually I would bring it to warinty but its a gift from a friend from another country so I cant.

Also I called the local computer repair/maintanance guy and he first asked me if I had windows 10 and when I said yes he just said that I need to mess around on the internet for a solution since he had a similar problem and changed something and since then it worked.
