Can H motheboards kill CPUs?!

I am considering to buy i7 3770 from used market and to pair it with  MSI H61M-P23, Asus H61M-K, Biostar H61MLV2 or Asus P8B75-M LX Plus.

 

Everything Used.

 

My friend claims that H motherboards can kill CPUs. Is he right?

Why would motherboard manufacturers sell components that kill other, often more expensive, parts?

And, why would people keep buying them? lol

probably just doesn't know what he's talking about, it won't kill a cpu. a bad PSU however can very well kill your cpu so rmb not to cheap out on that.

Alright since we got that out of the way what do you think about this build?

i7 3770 (I will keep turbo on)

8GB RAM (I will try for 12GB, but if not I will upgrade it soon)

GTX 970

which psu? cpu+gpu combination is fine.

I am not sure yet, I will post final parts here after some time. Now that i know I can pair i7 3770 with H motherboard without an issue I can save some money.

yah thats pretty good, make sure you pair it with a decent PSU at around 500W or so :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

That's one of the stupidest thing I heard today xD 

 

H series just means that you can't overclock your CPU. Since you are buying locked CPU anyway, that doesn't mean a thing for you.

In fact it's more likely that Z motherboard will kill your CPU because you would be overclocking it too far.

no, but it'll bottleneck a 1070 and above at high refresh rates if you upgrade in the future.

nope, thats perfectly fine. bottlenecking isnt as easy as "will it? yes/no" but for games that shouldnt bottleneck much or any if its not a very CPU intensive game
