Flashing GTX 980

Im not so sure if im allowed to talk about this ? But i have this gtx 980 zotac omega: Graphics card

And i was trying to flash it with a standrad refrence gtx 980 "high performance" bios, and it did not work.

Where can i find a high performance bios flash for this card ?

You could probably do some googling around for that, there was one guy that used to make GPU BIOS flashes(his name escapes me).

What's the difference between a "high performance" BIOS and a normal BIOS?

Either way, @Mick Naughty can probably help you out.

It unlocks voltage restrictions, therefore, you can, in theory, overclock higher, but be super cautious, if you flash it with the wrong bios, your card might as well be scrap metal.

I know the following link is over 3 years old, but it's still useful, and mentions a couple of references and addresses my point above:

ocnet has a bunch of them in an old thread, look them up

I actually read the whole guide 3 years ago on 970s and made my own bios, was fun. (cause the card was unstable at stock, wouldnt boost right,), it's somewhat worth it for the 980 if you can keep temps in check.

You can ask here.....looks like someone is still actively doing these bios mods.  Most of us have moved on.  Post with a copy of your card's original bios, and if someone is still active on this thread, they'll mod it for you.

Only thing performance about it is unlocking limitations or stepping up the states which is only good for great cooling.

What eaxcly are you looking to swap the bios for?

So you got a modded bios or an updated one? There isn't a point as you could overclock and get more fps.

Okei, well. Im not so pro in this area, i did a 0 fan mode bios update tho and that worked fine.

You can do a fancy bios if you want, just need to look at the base an boost clocks. Normally the card is gonna boost past it anyway. Its like the people who pay for the overclocked version of the card when the stock version of the card will run faster anyway.

If its a bios from the vendor that's all its gonna do, higher base and boost and more aggressive fan curve by default.

Unless you are getting modded bios that unlocks stuff such as max power and voltage there isn't really a point.
