Hyper 212 Evo - paste already applied?

It comes in a tube in a plastic container that has all the hardware and additional accessories to mount another fan.

So if I buy another thermal compound I wont need to wipe the heat sink with isopropyl alcohol?

I would still wipe it down to make sure it's clean, but no thermal compound is applied.

yah but if you are going to spend money on thermal paste you might as well get a better cooler to begin with

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Recently got the 212X after removing the plastic it was crystal clean I really don't even think cleaning would be needed...

I highly agree with this, I used Cooler Master's included thermal paste to justify it as well, since in my case that would be enough to tame my locked processor it all made sense.

However if you want to "overclock to the maxxx" then ya invest all you can cooling wise on a good cooler first, if you're thinking on the i5 8600k for instance 5ghz needs something like... cheapest I'd go a Cooler Master Seidon 240mm AiO.

Dirt isn't always visible as I tend to find at my workplace. Your eyes aren't really enough to determine how clean something is. It doesn't take long to clean it off, and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I mean... I cleaned it with the iso~ alcohol wet little cotton ball, after observing it, I really couldn't find whatever residual could have still been in place.

Cheers.

You may have also had a one-off. It's very possible for the QA team to miss something and ship a cooler with dirt left on the cold plate. It's also a good process for any cooler out there upon receiving it - ensuring you have a clean surface is important when conducting heat or electricity, and even if you don'f find any dirt, you at least know that it's clean, rather than assuming it.

i tend to not clean new coolers, i see no point in spending alcohol and time on it, and its not like a tiny amount of dirt is going to absolutely wreck your thermal performance either

The included tube is enough for 2-3 installs. I agree on note that if you are going to spend extra for paste, just get better cooler also.

You won't need to but the included paste is already fine.
