How does my first pc build fare?

My build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Qfp63F

Budget: $600

Use: I would like to play modern titles medium settings at 1080p preferable 60 fps (but I suspect only 40-50fps), maybe some coding and 3D modelling

I would like some tips and maybe better part replacements.

And what would be the best monitor for this rig around $100?

you are better off getting a cheaper motherboard and then buying an ssd

low quality psu, get a corsair cx instead. spend less on the case and mobo and use the money on a better gpu.

Would it be ok if I purchased the better motherboard and then later saved up and bought a ssd? Or is the strix b350-f motherboard overkill?

its overkill for your current cpu, but if you u[grade the cpu it would be appropriate. building a pc without an ssd is not a great idea. you could live with just the hardrive but the difference in real world performance (opening software, browsing, etc) is HUGE.

TLDR: If you plan to upgrade your cpu at some point than buy the more expensive motherboard, otherwise get the SSD
