I can get this laptop for my birthday, but is it worth it?

http://dynamia.uy/store/factory-refurbished/967-notebook-asus-rog-gl752-core-i7-6700q-16gb-1tb128ssd-gtx960-4gb-173-win-10.html

I'm in Uruguay, so most things cost double what they do in US retail prices (Amazon shows 775 dollars for the price, but here it costs just under 1400)

I just want to know if it's worth it or not. This is a huge investment and I want to make sure my father doesn't end up spending all that money on something that just won't serve me.

Also, sorry if I sound like a spoiled brat :P I know I'm not, but this is a very very special occasion for several reasons, and he's the one who took the initiative.

If anyone has suggestions for alternative laptops, all I specifically need in terms of specs is:

A 1TB HDD + a small SSD (128 or 256 GB)

Dedicated graphics (Not VR ready or anything, just as long as it's better than integrated)

Quad core CPU (From what I see, the standard is around 2.5 GHz base clock - 3.1/3.6 GHz max. I'm fine with those speeds)

8GB RAM (DDR3 even, though DDR4 is preferable)

Decent cooling (Not extreme but good enough to place on a bed or thick cloth and not fry the components)

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: How bad is it to buy factory refurbished laptops? Not knowledgeable on that term, I'll be looking for info myself but if anyone can explain it to me like I'm 5 years old, I'd be grateful

On a laptop I won't usually go for refurbished in that price range...

Yes a refurbished one my last still quite some time, or it will melt away quickly. If it was used for gaming, it surely will have run on max temps for most of the time, which isn't really helpful for longlivety. But you can never really say. It then depends on the warranty.

As for cooling... never put your laptop on a blanket or your bed directly... it will suck in lint and dust and that will clog the cooling inside.

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

Media System "Vio": Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5700X, 64 GB Ram DDR4 3200 Mushkin, 1 275 GB Crucial MX SSD, 1 tb Crucial MX500 SSD. IBM 5015 Megaraid, 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB HDD in raid 5, 4 WD RED 4 tb in another Raid 5, Gainward Phoenix GTX 1060

(Abit Fatal1ty FP9 IN SLI, C2Duo E8400, 6 GB Ram DDR2 800, far too less diskspace, Gainward Phantom 560 GTX broken need fixing)

Nostalgia: Amiga 1200, Tower Build, CPU/FPU/MMU 68EC020, 68030, 68882 @50 Mhz, 10 MByte ram (2 MB Chip, 8 MB Fast), Fast SCSI II, 2 CDRoms, 2 1 GB SCSI II IBM Harddrives, 512 MB Quantum Lightning HDD, self soldered Sync changer to attach VGA displays, WLAN

I wouldn't. The older mobile GPUs are complete trash compared to what they have out now, I imagine even a 1050 would crush that 960M. I'd wait a bit, see if they come out with a nice CoffeeLake i3 with a 1050Ti.

Well, considering the 960M is based on a 750(TI), that's a given. The 965M would be far closer however as it is based upon a desktop 960.
