RAM compatibility with Ryzen 5 1400

Ferneff
Go to solution Solved by Cakeman,

You don't really need 3200 mhz ram dog. 2133mhz will be absolutely fine for a 1400 with what I am assuming is probably a nvidia 1050ti-1060 card.

You don't need speeds past 2800 mhz until you have a 1070 or higher, and even with a Ryzen 1400, the processor could not take advantage of infinity fabric.

Buy this ram and save yourself money for maybe a Ryzen 1500.

The memory will be perfectly compatible.

Basically any DDR4 will work with Ryzen, but especially ones from big brands like corsair.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

This is my first time building a pc so i wanna ask something, Will there be a problem of incompatibility of Ryzen with the following ram?

I wouldn't go so far as to say it'll be perfectly compatible. It's most likely a Hynix based kit which doesn't work nearly as well as a kit containing Samsung B-Die memory chips. If you're already considering paying over $200 USD for ram, buy something known to have a much greater chance at working while performing exceptionally well.

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/memory/#s=403200&Z=16384002&L=140 - Anything in this list (Filtered to show 3200 CL14) will contain Samsung B-Die chips. It's not a complete list, but a good starting point. Research before you buy. Your 3200 CL16 will not be as good and may not work at rated speeds.

You will see a negligible gain with faster ram if you have anything below a 1070 as your graphics card. Don't waste you money, especially with high RAM prices at the moment. Just get the cheapest RAM that you find appealing and you'll be fine. If you are concerned about compatibility, AMD has a qualified vendors list that lists the product numbers of all compatible RAM modules, though compatibility only really starts to matter once you get over frequencies of 2666MHz, and you should not be getting faster RAM if you don't have a high end graphics card, and if you do, it shouldn't be paired with a Ryzen 1400.

So, will be this enough? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TTnG3C/crucial-memory-ct8g4dfs8213

(of course will be two of them and where i live it is easier for me to buy this)

Yeah, what is your use case also?

If you're first time gaming pc building, that RAM would be just fine, but I would suggest also posting your full system build. You might be spending too much on other parts that are not neccesary if you were wanting to buy $200 RAM.

I used this exact kit on Ryzen 1800x with C6H on day one of launch... was the only kit I could get to hit 3200 c16 out of the box.

It's something like that, don't mind the hdd cause it's still a test, and about the power supply, ironically it was the cheapest I could find.
