Speculation for new Nvidia cards

Now that new Titan is out(for non-consumers), I think the next line-up of Nvidia Graphics Cards is very close. By the rumours, consumer cards will not be Volta, but "Ampere."

I think they will start production in the May of 2018.

Now the question is how much of an improvement is possible on GTX xx60 and GTX xx50 Ti cards? I was thinking about getting GTX 780 Ti/GTX 970 perfomance on next GTX xx50 Ti, is it too much to consider? I know I can't get exact answers, but I would love to hear your opinions to lower my expectations.

If the trend of performance gains continues, let's say 1150ti, will have 1060 (970 and 780ti) performance, just like how the 1050ti performed similarly to the 960.

Actually 1050 Ti outperformed 4GB 960 by 5%. Do you think they will bump up the VRam tho?

4% is nothing, especally when you consider that all 960s have unlocked voltage and power limits but not all 1050ti.

I dont think they will give more than 4 on a low end card. In fact I wanted the xx60 to still offer a 3gb or maybe 3.5gb model, so miners can stay away from it and the price stays low.

i'm focusing on the top end, 4k 120hz is the goal, right now the 1080 TI does about 80-85 fps on high with most games, im hoping it hits the 100-120 mark with the 1180 ti or whatever they call it.

1180 Ti or 2080 Ti won't come out until early 2019. Honestly I can't wait to see how the next lineup performs. Thing that GTX 1180 or 2080 can finally put out 4K ultra 60fps will be very good to see.

Personally I think this it how it will work:

GTX xx80 = 20% better than Titan Xp

GTX xx70 = 5-10% slower than Titan Xp

GTX xx60 = 5-10% better than GTX 1070

GTX xx50 Ti = GTX 970

GTX xx50 = R9 380x

This would be the lineup which would launch in 2018(tho It is possible that they can make another GTX xx60).

On the original roadmap, Volta was the successor to Pascal. But there was a leak that Nvidia might be skipping Volta and making new chip called "Ampere." Nothing else is known.

Honestly, they have skipped already skipped Volta(because of Pascal), So this leak is probably true.

I hope that it is very similar to the difference between the 900 series and the 10 series. So the 1080ti will be about the 1170. 1070 around the 1160. That would be great. I want to upgrade to 1 or 2 of the XX80 cards when they launch. Since this time gap between launches has been longer than other I hope performance is a lot better.

Decided against getting a new GPU for the moment. Hopefully the new cards are launched in the next 6 months.
