How to remove burn in on amoled display

Guest

I've had my s8+ for  a while now and it's served it's purpose great but one thing has been bothering me the burn in that occurred from falling asleep watching YouTube. It's a slight yellow tang to 2/3 of the screen

I am afraid you can't do anything about it. Burn-in is normal for Amoled screens over time. If your device is still in warranty however, you should consider turning it in. Although it is normal for Amoled to have this happen in regular life expectancy, yours is a bit early imho. Yes. Letting your device burn-in overnight isn't actually hardware failure, more like expected behaviour, but again at this point I stand to argue that within Europe this is covered within your warranty.

You cant undo the damage already done; all you can do is mitigate the further degradation of the panel. Turn your brightness down to the lowest setting at night if you can, and try watching videos that dont have static images, and will end. Also turn off auto play if videos are short enough (dont watch 10 hour rain videos)

That sounds like a horrible idea....there's no way to undo burn in, you can either live with burn in or try and burn in the rest of the display to one level of burn in, which A) is just plain stupid since you're deteriorating the rest of the screen and not actually fixing anything, B) is going to be damn near impossible, and C) certainly isn't going to happen with a pre-configured video.

I forgot to mention btw. There are ways to mitigate the visibility of the issue if the burn-in isn't to severe. Apps like Amoled Burn-In fixer in the Playstore use software to invert the colour reproduction on the screen to basically hide the burn-in. Download at your own risk, reviews tend to be good on this specific app however. However it doesn't actually FIX the hardware. That is simply not possible.
