New Ryzen Processors

I update my bios regularly and check for updates on a weekly basis. Today I check 

http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-3-rev-10#support-dl

and see that there is a new bios available (f10). In the description it says        "Update AGESA 1.0.7.2a for for new upcoming processors". 

What this tells me

1) Since they are updating a b350 board it means that AMD will support b350 and x370 boards with the new ryzen processors. (We already knew they would support the socket but they could pull an intel)

2) Ryzen 2 is in the works.

I don't see why this surprises you? Did you think they were going to release one CPU, and never release any follow ups?
Of course they're working on new CPUs....

Its not that Im suprised of the new cpus being released, im not surprised at all. I just find it exciting because they are supporting old motherboards. We all knew they would keep the am4 socket, but they could have pulled an intel and released a new chipset.

Of course the next generation is already in the works. Manufacturers don't sit on their arse when they finally release a product. Chances are, by the time the current lineup is released, the next lineup is already well in development.

We're still waiting for the APU's to come out, but then we should have Ryzen 2 which is what the BIOS update might be targeting.

AMD has been doing this for a long time. The Athlon, Phenom, and Phenom II platforms were backwards compatible to some extent.

Usually those updates come out later after or right when they announce the cpu, or when they are being reviewed. Although I did hear something about ryzen 2 in a leaked roadmap or something.

the update isn't for "new processors" it's for the APU's this started rolling out over a month ago

no reason to... the B350 board got hit much later. I also don't recommend updating to this build it will very likely break stuff and not fix anything. it's not for the ryzen chips anyway

And it might be the apu chip they have been saying they are making for am4 socket.The zen2 will be 2020 from what they are saying.
