GTX 1050 enough for 1920x1080 144hz?

cadd

So im upgrading to a 144hz monitor this christmas from a 1366x768 monitor. I got this GTX 1050 last year for 130$, i think i may sell it and upgrade to a 1060. It seems here in canada the prices for 1070's are extremely overpriced.. (600$!!!) where a 3gb 1060 is only 300$, and i think that will be enough for me because i mainly play esports titles like overwatch and LoL anyways, but I really don't wanna upgrade if I don't have to.. but whats the point in a 144hz if im playing everything at 60fps yknow. What do you guys think? I havent been updated on benchmarks / pricing in a while.

Yeah, a 1050 isn't going to cut it for 144hz 1080p. I would say a 1070 or even a 1070ti is the BARE minimum for high refresh rate.

The 1050 might be able to push 144 FPS at low in light weight titles. I would sell and go with the 1060 3GB. It will push what you need at a much more constant level.

Yes and no, League of Legends will get to 144fps... Overwatch won't... try making it at least a 3gb 1060 or RX570.

Not at all, that’s only if you are playing on max settings.

If anything, get a 1080p 60hz panel and a 1060 6gb maybe.

I do.  I run Epic settings on a 1440p monitor at 165Hz in Overwatch.

If you want to run 1080p/144Hz and are fine with lower graphics settings, a 1060 3gb will do fine. Otherwise, look into a 1060 6gb (around $275 on the low end) or a 1070 (around $450 on the low end).

I don't think newer games would be able to pull it off on even medium though.

I wasn't really talking about medium. I was talking about low. The 1060 should be able to push 144hz for AA and AAA at low/medium and high for esports which is exactly what this dude plays anyway.

You really need at least a minimum 1070/ti to run most games medium/low settings at 144 fps @ 1440p. Unless you play older games like LoL/Dota/CS:GO then you would probably be fine. I have a 1080 and 144hz monitor and Destiny 2 runs around 100-144 fps depending on whats going on in game at low/medium settings. Overwatch would probably be fine with a 1060.
