Can a i7 2600 (non-k) bottleneck a GTX 1080?

stupid question here, but can it? today games seem to look for the latest i7's so I was wondering if a 2600 non-k can be a bottleneck for that gpu

If you're doing 144Hz then sometimes, but not by a whole lot.  If you're at 60Hz then no.

I would say you probably would get quite a few frame drops, but that's about it.

depends on the screen resolution...at 1080p the CPU will be in your way from time to time depending on the game...at 1440p you'd be mostly GPU bound.

if you aim to play games at 1080p high refresh rate with a GTX 1080 then you would certainly benefit from a faster CPU.
