what is HTML means?

what is the specific meaning of HTML? I mean Hyper means what, Markup means what..

Hyper = non linear, you can go anywhere with it being able to link anywhere. 

Markup is how the text is marked (italic, bold ect ect)

Language is the programming language this is in.
