How can I control these RGB fans in software?

iCantThinkOfAName

Hello,

I'm looking to purchase these RGB fans from corsair, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CO-9050067-WW-Individually-Addressable-Controller/dp/B01LA0R2X6/ref=gbps_tit_m-5_4ace_5f04cfd9?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=b5d2cbd6-1446-485e-ab07-aa0777e84ace&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-5&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=14235985031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=FQG5GEM99TB6WWJQXH13&th=1

But from what I can tell from the description is that they can only be controlled by the included lighting controller. Is there anything else that I can buy to control these fans through software/

Thanks,

Max

They can be controlled using Corsair Link over USB, if I'm not mistaken.

It seems you cannot...

The triple pack includes the "HD lighting controller". I believe it has its own drivers.

In reference to @wONKEyeYEs, he is right. The controller box does look like it MIGHT be controllable by a 50-50 header or 12-R-G-B header on the motherboard. Someone double check with the kit manual?

Do you want to control fan speed with software or RGB? Because speed can be controlled with mobo, just connect PWM cable from included hub to your mobos PWM header and use Asus software/BIOS. RGB part doesn't seem to have direct mobo compatibility.

Doesn't this just connect two LED strips though?

Pretty sure it has enough power output for fans, no?

The fan pack comes w/ a fan hub. From the hub it plugs into the Lightning Node Pro. That connects via USB 2.0 internal header allowing 2 RGB connection channel which would be the strips it comes w/ and that fan hub.

The Corsair Commander Pro would do Fan Control + RGB + USB 2.0 Internal Hub. Sounds like all you need is the Lighting Node Pro though.

That seems like a really clunky solution to a problem that could be addressable in a one-box solution.

Got it, think I'll be doing this, thanks so much for the help.

Yeah. It's a tad cumbersome, but once installed, it all works nicely. (Unless it doesn't).

Trying to get my head around it also. Managed to pick up a Corsair Lighting Pro Node for £18.99 here in sunny UK today on Black Friday (Thanks America). No idea what it does but I've recently been actually making looking inside my PC bearable. So yeah, just getting a grasp. Thanks for the clarification though.

The addressable nature of them is awesome. My mobo has an addressable header, but Aura has just been awful on the ROG Zenith for me. Corsair Link hasn't been a headache on this one. My other PC was a different story. The LNP firmware kept becoming corrupt. After Corsair replaced it, it was fine.

*drools*

Well, I have an H115i coming tomorrow so I'll break open the beast as soon as it arrives and get it together.

A little bummed I need yet another piece of kit in my case to control any RGB fans I have but also kinda glad I've at least made some head way with my PC recently.

Is it Corsair branded fans only or will any addressable RGB fan do?

They need to be Corsair SP, HD, or LL (which cannot be mixed together on the same hub and channel).

Thanks for adding yet more clarity to this topic. You'd be surprised (or perhaps you wouldn't...) at actually how vague the Corsair paperwork is.

No problem. Unfortunately, RGB moved too quickly and violently for there to be a unified standard for addressable. Mix that in with everyone wanting to trap you in their own ecosystem for maximum profit, and you've got the situation we're in.
