XFX XTR650 Gold or go for newer Seasonic Focus?

iiNNeX

Hey guys,

Currently in a dilemma  about which PSU to pick for my build. I was looking around for 650W Gold rated fully modular PSUs and came across an ebay advert for a brand new XFX XTR650. After a bit of research it seems that it is no longer being made, but it was rated as a reasonably good unit. The price it is advertised for is £77.50.

On the other hand, I could go with a much newer unit for £10 more (Seasonic Focus Plus 650 Gold) which only just came out and seasonic is beast anyway. Is the XFX one a seasonic unit too?

Which would you go for?

Cheers

The Seasonic one because it's rated at tier 1 rather than tier 2 or the XFX (though both are very good)

Yeah I am aware of the Tiers, but I've had some really good Tier 3 PSUs in the past, so don't pay much attention to that. If it's a good unit then it's good. As for price, the XFX is very close to the Seasonic, so it might be worth going for the SS anyway. Cheers

The tertiary system refers to electrical performance and build quality. The Focus Plus simply performs better. For $10 more it's worth it, but not by much.

Well, don't forget that the Focus doesn't seem as loud as the old G-Series.

So from that point of view it might be worth it either way...
