You don't have to, but you can. It's less of an issue with higher end monitors, but you should always check reviews.

There’s a difference but after 90fps you’ll really struggle to appreciate the difference.

I upgraded my gpu to the evga sc2 1080 Ti and i cant chose any monitor money aint a problem even if its 1k what monitor should i go with? I have the asus vg248qe and i want a good upgrade from it

That monitor has a 4ms response time, a monitor with similar specs and a 1ms response time would be better.

Uhm thats not ips ....tn panels go 1ms in exchange for color corruption from angles. 4ms is like the max ms for serious gaming. And very good for an ips

What is your goal? I assume not 1080p on a 1080ti. So 1440p, 4k, how many fps and hz you want?

my goal is g sync 1440p and ips and high refresh rates.

You are blessed with a nice matched cpu. Ok you are looking for an ips 4ms monitor 1440p on 144hz with gsync, these come around 800+ dollar. Im gonna make some tea and do some window shopping for you.

It's gimmick to me the whole monitor what's the purpose of 120hz if you won't rech 90fps at that resolution anyway?
