nVidia shield

Go to solution Solved by LinusTech,

Barnacules, what router are you using? I had an EA4200 (by all accounts a pretty solid dual band router) and it was absolutely GARBAGE for Shield streaming. Similar to your experience. I moved to an N66U and now it's AWESOME.

As for the graphics card requirements, the cool thing about it is that you're only running the game at 720p so it's not very demanding for the most part.

I am getting a shield for christmas and i want to know what i need to make sure its works good.

i have a 650ti boost in my lan rig that im going to shoehorn in between my 560tis and somehow find a way to keep my wireless card in there as well so i have game stream set for now. Also do you think is will deliver a playable frame rate on game stream. the only thing im really worried about is my router. i have a cheap router that doesnt have dual band its the e1200. i know i can do wired game stream, i found a 100ft ethernet cord at walmart, but do i need to upgrade it. i ran the ghetto shield (yes i made one) and it worked with little input lag. i do plan on getting wireless ac soon when i upgrade my rig when 800 series hits but might do i sooner if wireless ac routers drop a little in price.

so any suggestions if you think i need to upgrade anything.

The only other option is buying a micro USB to Ethernet adaptor and hooking it up with an Ethernet cable to the shield and your router if it can do WiFi to the shield.

I've never had good luck with the nVidia Sheild streaming feature. It's the main reason I have not done a video of it yet on Barnacules Nerdgasm since I'm hopeful they might improve the compression at some point and make it work a little better without a flawless signal. I basically have to sit 2 feet from the router to get a good experience.
