Which phone to choose on a limited budget ?

TrexerT

Hello there :)

I need to buy a new phone and i have no ideea which one to buy over those 3:

  • xiaomi redmi note 4x, 16gb, 3gb ram @170USD
  • xiaomi redmi note 4x, 32gb, 3gb ram @190USD
  • huawei p10 lite, 32gb, 3gb ram @200USD

My budget is kinda limited, so those are the best options I can get there. I want the phone to be able to last some years (2-3). I will use it mainly for browsing but ocassionaly gaming too (games like hearthstone).

Thank you all :D

If i had to choose, I would go for the Xiaomi. I don't know why, but I trust them more than Huawei. Capacity wise... meh 32GB it is.

would hands down recommend the note 4x

i've got the 16gb/3gb model - it's smooth, fast, and the battery is 1-2 days with heavy use.

idk

Thank you all for the suggestion :D Looks like i will be sticking with the xiaomi, but i got to ask too: is 16gb enough or should i go for the 32gb one ?

I dont take so much photos and i can get a sd card to store music.

@huilun02 I dont think i will root it in the future, so the suggestion still stands ?

Also, my carrier works on every kind of phone, so no problem with it :) (also cant buy from amazon since im from romania and the taxes will make it much more expensive)

@huilun02 Master witcher, i think i can expand my budget a little more to a 240$ and now I can afford a Xiaomi Mi A1. Should i go for it? Is it worth the difference ?

The Note 4X with 16GB probably has its RAM incorrectly listed as 3GB. Everywere I look the 16GB version only has 2GB of RAM.

As you know Android is not so good at memory management. I would go for the 32GB version. And yes if you are going to end up rooting/modding your phone, the 4X has much more community support producing roms and mods for it than Huawei phones.

But if you are with a carrier that uses GSM band...

The Chinese 16GB uses 2GB, the Global 4X uses 3GB.

It's incredibly confusing. See my screenshot, I own it.

Thank you all for your help. In the end i found a good deal for the mi a1 with little difference in price to the note 4x, and i went to it since it seems to be more future-proof with the android one program and also has better specs. The phone battery is the only con i saw at it, but hey, its not so small in the end :D
