Best all around CPU

So I am looking to build a new PC and having trouble with deciding a CPU to go with. My plans for the build are gaming, WoW, PUBG, etc., of course, streaming because I would like to start a Youtube channel, rendering and basic work for school as I am a student. I do plan on overclocking the chip to around 4.0 GHz with an AIO. I just need some advice/assistance choosing a best bang for the buck/all around chip. As well as what chipset MoBo I should go with, there is so many different choices to go with I can't decide

I'd go with the 8700K and get a 5ghz overclock on that thing, it's a beast.

8700k is the best all around mainstream CPU. 

 

If the budget scares you, there is more info needed.  Resolution you game, refresh you game, GPU you use, etc.

Xeon Phi, of course. Hands down, the best bang for the buck on the planet. Of course, *using* all that power is a different story, but that's up to you ;-)

If you can and feel comfortable, you may want to buy used parts to increase your bang-for-buck.

 

From what I've understood, the Ryzen 1600, a $195 CPU that comes with a decent stock cooler, is one of the best (per buck) around for now.

 

Usefull websites:

PCPartPicker - compares prices and does compatibility checks when you're setting up a system build.

CPUBenchmark - Benchmarks of CPUs. Others have told me it has a bias (Don't choose a Xeon), so I'd check a CPU's performance from multiple places. (Has a performance/cost tab here)

If you were to give a budget (or make a post in the new builds / planning with it), you'd get a variety of responses with setups.

If you'll get a 1080 Ti go wit the i7 8700k if you'll go with any other card that's under it the i5 8600k, if this is for general usage and gaming.

Depends on the budget, but assuming you are being reasonable Ryzen is where you would want to look tbh. 

 

Don't get the reasoning behind the Intel suggestions.

This is my playing PUBG on a 7820x and 1080 ti 30 minutes ago.  The video was to show AVX offset not kicking in.  Look at my CPU usage.  There is no way a 8600k is bottle necking a 1080 ti.

For a 1080 Ti, you should use an 8600K or 8700K at a resolution other than 1920x1080.

I have seen the video.  So you are saying, you will only see a performance difference between a 8600k and 8700k if you have a 1080 ti?
