Bringing a monitor on a plane

I need to bring my 24" monitor home and I don't expect that I'd be able to get that on carry on. I was thinking to put it in my hard shell suitcase, but that's obviously not an ideal situation. Any suggestions for packing it? I also need to bring an H440 home, but I was planning on just leaving it in its box and checking it. 

 

Note: one of the planes is a regional jet (Embrarer 175), so smaller than a normal jet.

I'd say just post it ? I remember the postal system been awesome back when i was in the states.

Well, checking it is free whereas shipping it would be like $30+.

I have the monitor box too, but I was hoping to be able to combine it into my suitcase and have one less thing. Also, there's no way in hell I could fit the monitor in the box that's just barely big enough for the case itself. Oh, and the monitor box uses cardboard and cardboard spacers for packing in a fairly convoluted way too (which makes it extra hard to repack properly).

Lots of packing material surrounding it. Since you have a hard shell suitcase it should be okay, and monitors are relatively durable too.

Write "Emotional Support Device" on it and they wont be able to tell you that you can't bring it.

Don't have any pillows to bring. I'm putting it in its styrofoam padding pouch thing with a sheet of cardboard over the screen and putting a bunch of clothes and towels around it.

Well your not flying Spirit airlines aka the school bus of the skies. They charge for about everything.

Most airlines charge for suitcases these days. I just get the fees waived.
