Syngery 50% affiliate link did not work

Hello guys,

 

this is my first post as I just encountered some trouble with Symless the company behind Synergy.

In one of his recent videos he had an ad for Synergy with a related affiliate link that would give you 50% off

giving you the basic version for 9 $. This is the url : https://symless.com/synergy/ltt

 

I created an account and stumbled upon my first problem. When you click buy you do not have to create and account with a corresponding password. You just enter your full name and an email. After succesfully buying you are logged in on the computer you bought the product with but your account still does not have a password. So before I could log into a second pc I needed to go throuigh the whole " Reset your Password" process. Very strange imo.

However this was not a dealbreaker for me.

 

The real issue is that I did not receive the discount. Note please that I am a german resident and Symless booked 14,34 GBP on my PayPal. This was then roughly 16,50 EUR. 

So I contacted the support and asked why the link did not work.

I did receive an answer however that was just standard gibberish and the confirmation that they indeed booked me with 19 $. The full price. I answered and again pointed out that I used an affiliate link. The answe was following:

 

Hi "I am thirsty",

I'm really sorry Synergy didn't work out for you. Please complete this refund request form, so we can issue your refund.

Don't worry as we will keep your account active after the refund.

I deleted all personal information from the response.

 

So this thread is not just there to brag about Symless seemingly shitty support but also the malfunctioning affiliate link.

If you had similiar experiences please share them with me.

The only problem I have had with them is them marketing themselves as if they are selling a product, while infact, they are just selling compiled builds of a free program, so it's more of an "donate to support the development of synergy, and get tech support" kind of thing, than a traditional software solution. And on top of that, the source code is (intentionally?) really complicated to compile with a ton of dependencies, and they don't compile it for you unless you pay up (a controversial tactic used before by for example "borderless gaming" to get people who don't know how to compile programs to pay up).

Update:
I tried to submit my refund and it would not let me refund my order. I always get following error: 

• Your refund could not be processed at this time. Please try again later.

This really start to look like a scam...
