Medium/high-end speakers that fit with a multi-monitor setup?

Go to solution Solved by Tz000,

I have a set of Micca MB42X and for desktop speakers they sound unreal for the size.  I have these paired with a velodyne 12" powered subwoofer and small Lepai 2020 amp for the speakers.  I am also using a FX-Audio Dac X-6 for my audio source so that helps a lot.

They are quite small speakers and maybe you could get away with them being laid down on their side behind your monitors or purchase some cheap wall mounting solutions for the speakers?

Speakers:

Amp:

https://www.amazon.com/Lepy-LP-2020A-3A-Class-D-Digital-Amplifier/dp/B00C2P61FO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1510286626&sr=1-1&keywords=lepai+2020

Wall mounts:

https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Universal-Clamping-Bookshelf-Mounting/dp/B01MZE0O8U/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1510286645&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=speaker+wall+mount&psc=1

DAC/AMP:

https://www.amazon.com/FX-Optical-Coaxial-Digital-Amplifier/dp/B072JJT7SF/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1510287025&sr=8-2&keywords=fx+audio+dac+x6

Total cost:

80.00 + 25.00 + 25.00 = 130.00$ USD before tax/shipping. for speakers, amp and wall mounts.

That leaves 50-60.00$ for a powered sub from craigslist which I'm sure there are a lot of.  You really don't need a massive sub with these speakers they sound great by themselves so a small 8-10" used sub would fill in the lows perfectly.

Hope this was helpfull, good luck!

I'm in the market for new desktop speakers, and I'd be willing to spend a couple hundred bucks for nice 2.1 setup. The big problem for me is, I have three monitors, which means there's very little space for the speakers to actually be placed. I need my speakers to be no more than like 3 inches tall (or to otherwise do something clever to minimize their footprint). Does anyone else have a similar setup, and if so, what have you done to get the best possible speaker setup?
