i have the hyper x cloud core head phones and they are only stero i have read its not worth upgrading to 7.1 surround headphones and i should just get good 7.1 surround software. I am thinking of stickng with my headphones and just getting the razer 7.1 surround software. What should i do?

You should play around with the surround settings for each game. Some, like Metal Gear Solid V, have vastly better surround audio in-game whereas others have binaural (two ears or receptors) engines that do the job for you.

Not even 5.1 is good. Stereo is all you need if you have good headphones.
