so im looking at getting new headphones, using a pair of Headrush CD-830's they're ok, but they aren't the greatest for being $30...so far im looking at the Steelseries 3H's, Audio-Technica ATH-T300's, Razer Electra's, Corsair Raptor HS30's, and Vengeance 1300's. any input or suggestions are much appreciated.

It doesn't need padding it's a wing design.

wing design? Um, it sits on the top of my head, if there isn't any padding, it's gunna get unconfortable after a while, I have headphones with no padding on the headband, any more than 40min and they start to hurt

Again, it doesn't need padding. There's nothing but air against your head. It's one of the most comfortable headphone designs.

so what, the ear cups are what hold the entire thing? Never heard of it, either way, I would end up having the top against my head just because it's what I'm used to

No, the headband supports the headphone on your head just like any other headphone, except you get the rigidity from the two bars going across the cups. There is padding on the headband, but it doesn't need to be super thick since it's not going against anything. You would need lots of padding on a normal headphone because the structural bar is hard but since the wing design moves this to the two bars on either side, the headband has nothing to lay on except air making it as comfortable as you can get. Not really sure how to describe it? It's pretty common sense.

Watch this guy put it on his head. Notice how the headband doesn't touch anything.

Monoprice MHP-839 (8323), maybe?

Those aren't all that uncomfortable.  My biggest problem with them is they're sorta ... girly.  Like a Miata.

I've never tried so I wouldn't know.  I wouldn't be caught dead in one, anyways.

Yo Barnacules! Nice to have you here!

If you want COMFORTABLE, you should try getting your hands on a pair of Tesla T1s.
