Yes, in February.

Which should have been the OFFICIAL release date of the 8xxx. So February correct date.

I guess they will optimize the clock speeds and the core scaling across the chip while still unlocking all CPUs that can be overclocked in 2 chipsets

that i might have to consider since after next year i wont be able to upgrade intel without a new chipset

You should only buy the i7 8700k if you'll pair it with a GTX 1080 Ti (TITAN Xp for the lulz), being realistic any thing under it you're better off with the i5 8600k (taking into account you want a gaming rig).

but i also might try some streaming

So stream with the i5 8600k? put it's iGPU to work with QuickSync which has been polished for Coffee Lake, besides the i5 8600k is miles better even than the i7 7700k, you're adding 2 more physical cores, the strongest cores there currently is, it destroys quad-cores even with hyper-threading.

The i5 8600k is perfectly capable of streaming, and it makes no sense over spend on your processor and not on your GPU on a gaming rig, the senseful thing to do given you'll be waiting either ways is actually get an i7 8700 on h310m with 16gb of 2666mhz cheapest ram it will cost enough less for the GTX 1080 or even the cheapest Evga B-Stock 1080 Ti in a good day for much more gaming performance.

yeah the tradition goes like

No Backwards and upwards Compatibility!

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).

Mention me if you want to summon me sooner or later

Spoiler

My head on 2019 :

Note 10, S10, Samsung becomes Apple, Zen 2, 3700X, Renegade X lol
