Upgrade 980Ti to 1080Ti or just keep card?

After having this card for some time, I have been wondering if its a good idea to go forward and get the new card, or keep what I have and wait for a price drop or even the next gen of cards.  If you see my sig, you see what my platform and what not are for my current build. Oh yeah, all water cooled as well.

MEM: G.Skill 32gb (2 x 16gb) 3600
GPU: Asus tuf oc 3080

Just wait and build a whole new system when next gen ti cards come out.

Stick with the 980Ti until the Volta cards are out in another year or so. Unless you're pushing high refresh rate and high detail 1440p or 4K, an upgrade isn't going to net you much benefit.

Your OP is a bit confusing at the end... assuming you're still with an i5 4690k that would be a very noticeable bottleneck if you did get a GTX 1080 Ti... either ways if you did need more GPU horse power the gap between 980 Ti and 1080 Ti is very noticeable.

Definitely just wait another generation unless you have so much money that $700 is nothing to you. The 980Ti is plenty powerful and waiting another generation will give you much more bang for the buck.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

I'm currently running a Acer predator XB271HU 1440p 144hz IPS monitor as my main and a BenQ XL2430T as my secondard monitor for other things.

Thanks for reminding me, I just did now. Also, I think the best thing to do is wait for all the next gen stuff to come out.  I might change my system to the Z370 or X370, depending on how things go down the line. SO many things to think about upgrading my system.  Still something thats been on my mind.
