Recommended Cases for HPTX Motherboards

Hello everyone, I was wondering if there were any cases you would recommend that are compatible with a HPTX form factor motheboard (13.6 × 15 in (345 × 381 mm)). These are huge motherboards and not a lot of cases have native support.

 

I am currently looking into modding an NZXT S340 to be compatible with the motherboard I want to put in it but in the even that things don't work out I would like to know what my options are.

Corsair 900D seems like a good option, it is a huge case though.

Whats bad about huge cases? Air flow is best in those.

The Corsair looks a lot nicer than some of the other cased which I like but goodness is that a big case. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my mod works out.

This is for the EVGA Classified SR-2. It is a dual socket board that allows overclocking

I am currently using an eATX motherboard which is also quite large and I have one eeATX (it is approximately one E larger than an eATX) motherboard in a box waiting for a project. The SR2 is bigger than either of these and I didn't realize that until after I bought it

I never said big cases were bad haha. They are just big and bulky, and usually aren't used to the full potential. But it seems that for HPTX motherboard form factor there is few case options anyways.

If you have extra motherboard standoff screws and a good drill set you should be able to fit it in the S340, assuming there is room already for the motherboard to even fit in the inside.

There isn't room hahaha, That is where the mod comes in. I am still waiting for the motherboard to arrive so I can do more measuring but front to back I should have enough room if I mount the case fans on the outside of the case. Vertically I need about another inch or two I don't remember off hand, but I will have to cut out part of the cable management/psu shroud to get the extra space I need

The S340 is quite a compact case as far as mid towers go, maybe something like the Thermaltake F51 would be a better fit to mod in, removable hard drive cages and no PSU shroud mean tons of room.

The S340 has been great so far and it fits my eatx really well. For modding I should have gone with something like the F51 but when I bought the S340 originally I hadn't considered this scenario.

 

If I can I would like to save money by keeping the case I have but If I can't use it I might get the F51 because I like the size of mid towers a lot more than full towers and it looks like it wouldn't need much work to make it work. This is assuming HPTX uses ATX mounting points which I will be praying it does. I have been having trouble finding info on the mounting points for HPTX but I am guessing it would be the same for ATX but with a few extra holes kind of like the eATX boards

It depends on what kind of case you like. Personally i like the look of compact computers so I have my eatx board in the NZXT S340. All I had to do was unscrew the cable management bar in the middle and the board fit. Granted there was very little extra room and there was no support for the motherboard mounting screws furthest to the right. That was fine though because most of the board was supported and everything was really sturdy regardless.

 

 

 

 

Edit: I misread your question. I haven't tried eeatx in it yet but I think it would fit but room for case fans might be tricky. It would probably be fine with some low profile fans in the front
