I will be getting my first nice mouse soon for CSGO and general editing and stuff.  I'm thinking about getting the Logitech G502 with a Steelseries Qck+.  Two questions, will this be a good mouse and mousepad combo for CSGO?  And also, I will be keeping this mouse for a long time and don't know how the mouse update cycle, so when will a new version come out, since I like to buy things as soon as a new updated version comes out.

G502 is the best mouse i have probably ever used, only complaint is that its a bit light for me but its still really nice

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I really like this mouse.

While I don't play CS:GO, and would rather keep my hardware for longer periods of time, the software does have a very impressive array of games (spanning almost a decade) with built-in support. And then you can add mappings for any other game that isn't detected.  That was huge for me, since custom button mapping was on of the reasons why I got the G502.

I like shape; it works well with my long fingers and palm grip. The thumbrest was a must. All the buttons are easy to reach. The only one that I miss is the G button right behind the mechanical mode shifter for the scroll wheel.

The adjustable weights really do make a difference. I actually like my mice a little heavier, but taking all the weights out makes the mouse feel very light for those who like that feel.

But when should I expect a refresh or do they not update the G502?

A good mouse can last for years unless you are a fool like me and buy one made by Razer...

People constantly say Razer's products are bad but the Deathadder Elite was sexy i had to get one but sadly after 4 months of use it's already broken so i guess i learned the hard way.

I personally will probably get a Rival 310.

As others said it mostly depends on what your preferences are.

Do you mean hardware refresh, or software update?

Software is updated often as part of the "logitech gaming software" suite.

Hardware? I'm not aware of any new hardware features for wired mice that you would need that this mouse doesn't have, so why does the hardware update cycle matter so much?

Generally logitech has new stuff every 3-5 years depending on the category and need. But unless you love throwing money at the screen, I don't understand the need for a hardware refresh just for the sake of "something new".

Okay, I guess the G502 is a good mouse but not the best for CSGO then...  Thanks guys, I'll think about it.

It could it just depends on your weight preference and shape. I personally try and go under 100 grams with a 336x variant sensor

If you are playing games like CS:GO I'd suggest a smaller and lighter mouse with like 2 thumb buttons.

As others stated, it's all about preference. And what other games you play.

I've seen several professional CS:GO players use G502.

But as others have stated, the weight, grip, and button count may not be for everyone.

If you play other games that would benefit from having lots of buttons, it's a good purchase.  If you only play CS:GO, investing in a lighter mouse with a better sensor and less buttons might be a better deal

IMO it is the legendary mouse for basically anything, and how ergonomic it is how the build quality stands out it is just a great mouse. Don't forget them customizable DPI and RGB Lighting!

I use my G502 for CS:GO and it's perfectly fine for me, could do with it being a little heavier but i'm sure adding the weights would fix that.. I just can't seem to get the bottom off to add the weights in for some reason o.O

Not the best as cs:go(http://csgo-stats.com/riley_xd/) but I did notice i was able to play better with this mouse compared to my old one which was a generic ebay one. Though i think that was mainly due to being able to pinpoint the DPI setting to what suited me.

What CSGO pros use the G502? I always thought it was notable that it was not used by any of them so I would just be interested to know who. In general for serious competitive CSGO it is considered too heavy which is why most pros use lighter mice such as the G403, GPro or Zowie mice.
