I have 3 possiblites for you.

1) The modem/router is over heating. You can test this generally by touching it. Does it feel very warm?

2) The modem/Router is crapping out.

3) Your loosing internet connection. Remember that box is a modem and router. So you can still be connected but have no internet. This could be cause by the modem part going bad, or having a shit signal coming from the cable company. Remember the Docsis standard the modem works under has to be with in a certain set of specs signal wise to work. Many things can kill you signal. Wireless from cell phone transmitters. Temperature, generally you signal needs to be at its limits for temperature to affect it. It could be a bad wire, bad spiter, bad F connector. It could even be a loose connection. You might need to contact your ISP to come out and check.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Sometimes the internet drops completely and others only one device looses connection. I've recently changed the modem location to an open area to keep it cooler. It is still warm tough.

Do you have any wired (Ethernet) devices to test? See if those work 100%. If so, I'd say maybe the wireless part of the combo is going bad. It happened to my friend's Verizon Quantum router, the wireless kept dropping, but the wired did not. So he gave it to me and I just run the router with a Ubiquiti AP handling the wireless. No issues since.

I would also check the WiFi area around you. Download WiFi analyzer and see what bands are being used up. It's possible your combo is picking a bad band to use for the 2.4 Ghz / 5 GHz networks.

I've been checking that for the past week. The 2.4ghz is quite full in my area, but the auto channel mode on the router is doing it's job.

Hmm, so your router is only 2.4GHz? Yeah, I remember some people had issues with 5GHz where the router on auto would default to 80MHz wide bands and pick ones with interference in them. Usually you want 20Mhz for 2.4 GHz and 40 Mhz for 5GHz (Unless you really need that extra speed of 80Mhz and are free of interference).

I would definitely check the wired performance of the combo if possible. It'll tell you if something is up with the wireless part of it.
