Not too good at comparing monitors so was hoping for some help.

Which to get with which has better features

$400 is way to much for 1080p 144Hz

Not in sweden where there is 25% tax on everything

Yes, but 1440p @ 144Hz is quite intensive, especially for a 970. Well, for gaming at least.

well i would play competetive games with 144hz at 1080p and single player games at 1440p 60hz

Rest of Europe has pretty much the same tax, and the VG248QE is no more than 300 euros (usually sits around 250 euros).

That website is a bit overpriced.

I have a 1060 at 1440p 144. IMO 1080p looks poo on a 1440p monitor and a 1060 is the bare minimum I would go for 1440p, although some people are very happy with their 970 at 1440p. I would get the 1440p monitor if you're upgrading GPU in a year, maybe 2. Otherwise you're just going to have a bad time and have to spend lots of time tweaking settings, something I already have to do with my 1060.

or is it worth paying a little extra for the asus monitor. I know the price is steep but it doesnt get much cheaper anywhere you look in sweden

I'd go 1440p. 1080p content on a 1440p screen isn't ideal, but it isn't completely terrible. Aside from that, everything else (including your OS and 1440p youtube videos) will look much better at 1440p. And who says you have to run everything at 1080p with a GTX 970? Older games, less demanding games, or newer games with tweaked settings will give you a better experience at 1440p than at 1080p maxed out. Plus, you'll probably keep the monitor for longer than you'll keep the GPU.

You can get the vg248qe on ebay for ~$200 USD so if you are budgeting, thats what I'd pic. (Thats also what i did)
