IPhone 8 vs Pixel 2 XL

bigbangxss

So it's about time for a phone upgrade. I've stuck with Samsung and touchwiz for a long time, and it's time to move on as well. Right now I'm hardstuck between the I phone 8 plus and the Pixel 2 XL. While I love Android OS, and the features that come with it, imessage is just too convenient. Not having imessage has been frustrating at times, and has made me almost switch. I won't be getting neither a headphone jack nor expandable storage on both so the phones are equal in that regard. Does anyone have any recommendations or personal experience with either phone?

I'll back Android, because I love the customization.

If you want something a little simpler, then iOs is a great choice as well.

If you want better bokeh, or a telephoto lens the iPhone would be a better choice.

I think the Pixel will come ahead in terms of video stability.

Why is the Pixel XL at the top of your list? I'd consider the Huawei Mate10 and LG V30 as well.

It's mostly up to what OS you want. I personally would go for the pixel, but that's just personal preference.

You get basically the same performance and camera and stuff like that. Only thing is that the Pixel battery is a little better and that it has fast charging.

So it's up to you what you want, and it's hard for us other to decide because the only thing that really differs is the OS, and you have tried both.

Never been a fan of LG phones. I briefly used the v20 and it wasn't my cup of tea. I haven't read up on the Huawei, I'll take a look at it though.

Was it the stock launcher? If so, you should really try Nova.

i would go for the 8 Plus. 1st of all, the 8 Plus gets double the storage of the Pixel 2 XL at the same price. I own a 256GB iPhone 8 Plus and i love it. Battery is great, the camera is astounding and can also shoot in 4k @ 60FPS (if you're into that kinda stuff). The A11 Bionic Chip makes everyday tasks a breeze and can handle graphic heavy applications amazingly. The stereo speakers sound great and one of them is front facing. iPhone has fast and wireless charging. iOS 11 is super secure and smooth with barely any crashes. I would recommend the iPhone over the pixel any day.

Really the Pixel is a joke compared the iPhone 8.

You'll get better battery life, water resistance, stereo speakers, the A11 Bionic, fast charging (sold separately), and included headphones (don't think you get any with the Pixel).

Also it can have 256GB vs the Pixel with only 128GB

Thanks everyone for the responses. As much as I love and wanted stock android I purchased an Iphone 8 and its not bad. It's very snappy, and battery life is already much better than my previous s7. I spent alot of time soul searching and I didn't want to buy the pixel if Google is going to be hypocritical and remove the headphone jack after bashing apple for doing so last year. Yes the Iphone also doesn't include the headphone jack, but overall the Pixel lineup is not very compelling compared the the new Iphone.
