Will an i7 7700k work on an Gigabyte H110m-m.2?

I'm thinking about buying an i7 7700k from ebay to save some money. Most people wouldn't recommend buying an i7 for an H110m motherboard because of the lack of overclocking. I currently do not want to buy a z270 motherboard so I'd like to know if I would need to update the BIOS or not. I currently do not have a Skylake cpu with me to do the update. However, on the Gigabyte website states that all of the supported CPUs require the SAME BIOS version. This basically means I wouldn't need to update. Can someone please revise the information and make sure I'm not making a mistake before buying an i7, thanks.

Here is the link to the specifications the motherboard: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H110M-M2-rev-10#support-cpu

It should work completely fine, would suggest a different cpu but if thats what you want to do go for it. As long as its new it should have a new enough bios to support a 7700k if not send it back or borrow a friends cpu or something

If it was made recently, then no you don't have to, but you should always update to the latest BIOS. But if you are getting a H110 board, then don't get a 7700K, just save money and get a 7700. But you are aware that Coffeelake is coming out in a week or so right?

It will, but it will require a BIOS update to do so if its running an older BIOS. Also, that board does not support overclocking so the chip would essentially be locked even though the chip is unlocked itself.

Wait a couple days for Coffee lake to be released, old Quads on ebay will probably drop a bit in price. You also won't need the K, so safe a couple $ and get the the 7700.

Xeon e5649@4.4 GHz on Asus Rampage II Extreme or Gigabyte x58a-OC (whatever I feel like to set up at a time) , 6x4 GB Kingston HyperX 1600, Gainward GTX 670 Phantom, Samsung 840 Evo 240 GB, BeQuiet L8 530W

You are asking this question and you dont have a Skylake chip, so I assume you dont have mobo yet? Get Coffee Lake instead. Kaby i5 at the price of an i3 or Kaby i7 at the price of an i5. I dont see why you dont want to wait.

Even if you cant afford them, used Skylake and Kaby will flood the used market and you can get chips you want, even with Z mobo since there will be people who cant wait to get some money for a piece of Coffee even at the cost of selling them lower than what they are worth.

Well, isn't Coffee Lake 8th generation? If it is then my motherboard won't support it's only 6th and 7th gens.

then why would you buy the motherboard in the first place....

If that's the case, either sell the motherboard or buy 6th/7th gen after 8th gen is widely available.
