Coffee lake upgrade

I currently have an i5 6400 and wanting to upgrade it.  I am wondering if my system ( mainly referring to the motherboard) will support the new i5 8600k when it comes out. Baisically, can I just swap them out or will there be some compatability issues.

My parts:

Motherboard - MSI Z179A M3 Gaming Motherboard

GPU - Asus Strix-GTX 960 2GB

CPU - i5 6400

RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series DDR4 2800MHz

Nah, Covfefe wont work with your mobo.

When the prices of Kaby drop, you can get 7700K and update the BIOS.

Ok thanks, so the 7600k will work right?

that's stupid. if he's gonna sell his current setup he might as well buy the 8600K when it launches.

He can keep his motherboard if he gets a 7700k, and they'll perform basically the same. Z370 boards will probably cost in the neighbourhood of $200. Let's assume the 7700k goes on sale for $300, the 8600k for $280, and Z370 for $200. Let's assume he sells his 6400 for about $100 because they'll be equal to the new i3's and assume he gets $80 for his motherboard (probably a bit high, but whatever). The 7700k system which will perform within +- 10% of the 8600k, costs $300 - $100 = $200. The 8600k system would cost $200 + $280 = $480 - $80 - $100 = $300. He can save about $100 by saving his motherboard and going with a 7700k. Seems like an excellent choice to me.

Main System: EVGA GTX 1080 SC, i7 8700, 16GB DDR4 Corsair LPX 3000mhz CL15, Asus Z370 Prime A, Noctua NH D15, EVGA GQ 650W, Fractal Design Define R5, 2TB Seagate Barracuda, 500gb Samsung 850 Evo
Secondary System: EVGA GTX 780ti SC, i5 3570k @ 4.5ghz, 16gb DDR3 1600mhz, MSI Z77 G43, Noctua NH D15, EVGA GQ 650W, Fractal Design Define R4, 3TB WD Caviar Blue, 250gb Samsung 850 Evo

Ok, so let’s say I just go the 7700k. How do I swap the processors. Do I simply just pop it in and I’m good to go or are the some bios or something I need to do?
