7950 to 290x, Do I Have to Reinstall AMD Drivers?

As you can see my new 290x is gonna be here tomorrow. Running a 7950 on a day old install of 8.1. While I normally reinstall Windows for new hardware i'm just not up for it this time around. Is there anything needed besides just uninstall/reinstall drivers for the new card?

Does it kill you to know that I unlocked my r9 290? I hope you realize only sapphire and xfx come w/ bf4.

 

Haha, but you're all good dude. Yes, just update your drivers if it doesn't occur automatically.

Maybe a new PSU if you need it, if not, then nothing else other than the drivers. 

 

BTW that was a terrible purchase. Should have waited for aftermarket R9-290 for at least $150 less, better cooling and more performance.

No nothing else should be needed.

How do you know which country he resides from ? If he's in Australia or a similarly marked up country that's quite the deal he got there.

You don't need to reinstall the drivers, just install the 290X in your system and you're good to go.

Yes but the $ and the fact he got it on amazon.com usually indicate the USA.

Cancel the order, buy a 290 non-X and flash it to the X BIOS.

IIRC not all flash now, and I think it was only Powurcalour and YFY

American bucks for the record. Gonna put a water block on it anyways so waiting for the 3rd party cards is not worth it for me. I tired two different 290s and nether of them unlocked and I'm tired of waiting around. Also I went with Gigabyte for their superior RMA  department in case I get a card with a lot of coil whine. My 7950 I have now has a ton of it and I hate it.

Yes. Just installed on mine. And no problems yet. Still have to play couple more games though

is recommended install the 13.11 on R9 290 series friend 

(keep in mind that, they really are "a new class" of gpu)

 

the 13.10 for R9 200 and R7 200 

 

and the 13.9 for all others   B)
