Hey guys I'm thinking of building a small form factor pc in the node 202. I know the inherent trade offs are upgrade ability, space, heat, and that's all I know. I want to see if there are any other trade offs that I cant think of. Also I will be using a 6600 so fairly low tdp cpu, im using a g1 gaming 1060 and I know its gonna be bad for thermals but thats ok with me. What do you think that I could do to reduce temps? install fans in the bottom, get a specific cpu cooler?

small form factor,s only sacrifices are, cooling capacity / upgrade room :P

i would just look for a low profile ( decent ) cooler or check if an AIO cpu cooler fits :v

yea im looking into a few but idk what i should buy for coolers thoughts?

Depends on your CPU, for any Ryzen chip something like a Cryorig C7 would be plenty, for Intel chips you would likely be stuck with a locked SKU, like the 7700, in which case the C7 would also be enough

CPU: I5 4590 Motherboard: ASROCK H97 Pro4 Ram: XPG 16gb v2.0 4x4 kit  GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 PSU: EVGA 550w Supernova G2 Storage: 128 gb Sandisk SSD + 525gb Mx300 SSD Cooling: Be Quiet! Shadow Rock LP Case: Zalman T2 Sound: Logitech Z506 5.1 Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma Keyboard: DBPower LED

i5 6600, im looking into the nhl9i thing from noctua because of its quiet profile

That should be fine, I wouldn't suggest using a open air cooler like the G1 Gaming in that case. I would suggest either a Founders or other blower style cooler like the Turbo

don't have the money to afford a new gpu, I can try to trade for it

How long have you had the card? If its not out of its return period (Which Id guess it is, but worth asking) then return it and pick up the turbo. Otherwise it will probably be okay.
Honestly if you have the space for even a normal ITX case I would suggest going with that. HTPC cases are better tailored for Netflix boxes, not gaming PCs. They do cause the fans to be loud and have very poor thermals

Noise, price and most likely performance.

As for CPU:
You should either wait or go for a Ryzen 6 Core.

The Time for those ancient 4 Cores is over...

easily out of the newegg return time, maybe fit a couple noctua fans in the chamber

Then I would really suggest not going with such a small case. Its really not worth the trade-offs compared to a normal ITX case.

yea but the gain with a case like that is that I can take it anywhere, in my bag and other places. I go to church every week and the kids love when I bring my pc but in a cube case its annoying to lug around. Also i'm taking a road trip to kansas and I want to bring my pc

Its up to you, but your GPU is going to sound like a jet engine and will run slower due to temp limits

tbh, thats fine for the most part, I dont play AAA games the most demanding is pcars 1 and I can run that at stock speeds well, 1080p is my target

Cryorig C7 or Noctya NH9i are both solid low profile choices.

The only extra "sacrifice" is ease of build. Managing everything in such a small case is a challenge at times, depending on how much you're throwing in there.
