The thing with laptop is, it depends on the person's experience with them. Some will worship say HP, while others will avoid it like the plague. This goes for all brands that's out there. The best thing to do is go to Costco or Bestbuy and check out the laptops they have. They way your dad can see them physically and pick the one he likes.

Intle 8th gen cpus like the i5 and i7 are both quad cores with HT.

He does we just looked at other options because they were cheaper but he has continued to have problems with windows that couldn't be fixed at all

If I had to get a new laptop today I would probably look for a cheap macbook air. My sister has it and I really like how light it is compared to my mbp. Also I think it is priced reasonably (for an apple product lol).

OP, I would probably go with a new Windows laptop, seeing as you can usually get more performance for the dollar than an older MacBook. I’m not good with laptops so I can’t really give you a reccomendation.

A quick format and reinstall should fix all windows problems.

Yeah I tried that 3 times and windows literally wouldn't let me wipe the dang thing.  Anyhow it's been returned because I already troubleshooted it and it was too much work than to just get a new computer
