Is the 780 TI still worth it?

So I may be making a platform switch somewhat soon, and I'm debating between getting a brand new GTX 1060, or buy a used 780 TI for around $180. My question is, would it be worth it? Like, is the performance still fairly good in today's gaming landscape (and is it worth getting a used part)?

There has been lately some videos going around how the 7 series has aged really quickly, mostly because of ram. So it really depends on the games. I would only get it if you find a deal around $120.

Alright, thanks! I've heard similar things so I was wondering if those tradeoffs were worth it.

At $180, I'd get a 3GB 1060 instead. Roughly identical performance to the 780 Ti.

 

If you could get the 780 Ti for $130-140, it'd be more worth considering.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Well I was going to be getting the 6 GB 1060 (since my budget is around $1000 and I would benefit from a hexacore, hence Ryzen 5 1600) but it'd be nice to be able to pocket the extra money (since college isn't too kind on the wallet).

If the 6GB 1060 is in the budget, by all means go for that over the 3GB. I thought $180 was your fixed number.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I played quite a bit of bf1 with my Titan black on 1440p. Wouldn't go out of my way to get another Kepler card now but I would gladly play on them if need be. Aside from the looks there are newer cards that can perform as well for the same if not less.

Think of 780 TI as 970. Exactly the same performance. It's still a decent GPU to be fair. I had 780 TI SLI and it was great, but then I tried to play The Division at 4k and lowest settings gave me 40 FPS at 4K so I waited for 1080 TI to come out.
