Have you heard of Silicon Power?

I have read that an ssd leads to faster boot times for Windows compared to the hdd, but they are more expensive for lower storage and i don't want to spend that much just to get a few games and Windows.  So I was wondering if I can just get a low storage ssd (like 60 gbs) and make it a "boot drive".  Then I found Silicon power, it is the only company I have seen that makes ssd that low of a storage, but it is a reputable band, will it be efficient enough and not die out randomly?

yes.

 

ssd makes everything faster, system response times, game loading, windows loading, searches, etc. anything that takes a second to register, completely gone with an ssd.

pay like $95 for a 250gb 850 evo.

Because the bare minimum for Windows is barely less than 60GB.

that's not true at all... An install is around or under 30 GB iirc

WD and Crucial both offer pretty decent SSD's 120-250GB that are relatively competitive in price.

You will want something of fair size recommended 120 at the smallest because some software wont install on a non system drive. Is best not to choke your drive if possible.

IMO a 120GB is worth it, a good ADATA one is $55

Yeah, regardless I would recommend a 120 GB at minimum, but a Windows install is not that big.  Actually there's a PC in the house that's basically still a fresh install, let me go check how big it is... Edit: 20 GB

I would get a 120GB SSD for the boot drive, it should be enough storage capacity to store the OS as well as some other programs/games. SSD's significantly improve system boot times, game/program loading times and anything that registers. WD and crucial SSD's in the 120GB-250GB variants are reliable and competitive in terms of price.

WIn10 clean/fresh install is around 30GB, Update install will run you about 50-60GB.

Yeah it's a good size to have and also performance increases with larger ones, especially in the low end (60 -> 120 -> 256)

Although about the software thing, I don't think I've ever come across that, and if I did, I would just move the files and make a symlink so it doesn't realize it's been moved.

Video games, and other programs, and also not filling it completely means it will be faster and last longer.

I think Office365 is one that refuses to install elsewhere iirc, but yeah symlink would do the trick.

Idk whatever you want that needs fast storage, maybe select programs (will open faster) and stuff like that

No need to fill it, drivers, updates, email and other core programs that will page off that drive will utilize that space.

Use a secondary (HDD) drive for other programs or long term storage and such.

When you install a new program it will ask (commonly) where you want the program installed at, which is called the install path (mentioned by @JDE) if you are installing from the Windows store you need to make sure in the setting you make it possible to install on any drive if the option is available.
