Can someone help me identify what this is missing?

I just bought an 1800x and a motherboard from my friend.  It seems to be missing something and he can't seem to find it.  I don't know what this is and don't know where to get an extra one. 

 

This is what my motherboard looks like.  It seems to be missing the 2 brackets that cover the 4 holes surrounding the cpu. It's included out of the box on every unboxing video and i can't seem to identify whay it's name is.

It's a stock AM4 mounting bracket for the stock cooler. If you buy a cooler with it's own backplate + bracket you should be fine, though I'd want to get that stock bracket from your friend considering many aftermarket coolers use it.

I have the cooler fractal design Celsius s36. Does it use the stock bracket?

If you have it, then you can check.

Probably not though.

(plus, that board has AM3 and AM4 mounting holes, so you can just use the AM3 bracket for your S36)

It tells me to screw these into my mother board but there is nothing to screw into.

Only the black part is what you need, so you can screw in AM4 socket.

It will do same job just fine, but it's AM3, and since you have HERO VI motherboard it will fit just fine!

 

I had to buy one too, so you're not the only one. I transferred my H115i from Intel system that I sold so I had it for free from Corsair, but I'm not sure if it's free any more.

I have 8 of these from my corssair h115i. Would this work?.(ik It's super janky.

No you cannot!

 

1) You can easily short circuit the tiny metal compoents on the back of the motherboard.

 

2) You need to mount the motherboard to a computer case -- those thumb screws are way too thick.

 

Get a proper AM3/AM3+ or AM4 mounting backplate/bracket replacement.

No, you need to buy a proper backplate. You could use rubber washers, but I do not recommend it.

 

It's only few dollars like 3 or 4, just get that backplate and you're good to go.
