So I just got the PowerDVD trial, and I get the same issue as on the other player, the video seems over exposed and noisy. I tried disabling video enhancements but that didn't work, it is interesting that the original program I used had that exact same issue. I looked up a couple seconds on youtube and mine definitly is overexposed for some reason, any idea?

So then that is your graphics card drivers that is having fun with the colors. Check the graphics card control panel, and make sure all these video settings are disabled.

Hi everyone, I purchased both a USB Blu Ray player, and a few Blu Ray movies to watch. I am trying to find the best way to watch my movies. I found a player online called Leawo that worked, but for some reason the video a lot of the time looks really over exposed and super full of noise. I tried lowering the brightness setting in the video player, but that seemed to change nothing. If any of you know a better player or a way to make the image quality better on Leawo that would be amazing (preferably looking for a free/cheap option).

I tried VLC and got this error when launching it with the from disc setting.

Blu-ray error:

This Blu-ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it.

I tried looking up a fix but I couldn't get it working, any advice?

I would buy Cyberlink's PowerDVD 17. It goes on sale quite often and supports 4K Blu-ray.

I use PowerDVD. I don't like it, it crazy bulky, but it came with my Blu-Ray drive, and it works.

Companies have 0 idea how much I am willing to spend for JUST the codec. I don't care about added useless software that many of these software comes it. I just want the codec and use Windows Media Player / Movie player of Windows 10, and call it a day. Or make a bare bone player, following Windows look and feel like Windows 10 DVD player. I am SURE that I am not alone.

DVD only. Not Blue-Ray, sadly. It was highly requested, but Microsoft doesn't see the value, as their DVD codec is barely used, due to more and more systems not having any optical disk drive, and even then most people, including myself rarely uses it.

So my Nvidia Control Panel no longer gives me options besides 3d options, so I checked the Intel driver. It had it set to like 1.8x contrast and other things, why would they even think that is a good thing? Anyway it is no watchable, it is still pretty noisy for a Blu Ray movie, but at least it doesn't hurt my eyes, thanks.

Get Power DVD. I know some time VLC works. But yeah, thats why I havent bought a blue ray drive for my system, as I just want the plug and play experience. Not the install the hardware and then pay for the software when I can buy a blue ray player for my TV for cheaper.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

The codec is not the issue. Blu Ray is just h.264 in a high bit stream. It's the DRM that's at fault.

Open sourced encryption keys only work for blu ray discs that have had their specific keys compromised. However, studios can generate another key, requiring the new keys to be intercepted and updated to the key database.

Most often, it is PC software that is compromised to obtain new keys, as the keys reside in user memory and can be extracted. PlayReady 3.0 seeks to sidestep this weakness by keeping keys in a hardware portion inaccessible to the user, hence why requirements on PC to play 4K Netflix or 4K Blu Ray are so ornery.

My camera lens sees the present…

AACS holds the encryption keys for Blu-ray. The codec is publicly available, but the keys aren't which is why newer Blu-ray discs can present issues when ripping, even though Managed Copy allows users to make those copies...

it's a sad day when it's easier to rip a Bluray to an MKV using MakeMKV and watch the rip then it is to play the actual disc.
