Cisco Router WIC Help!

PlenumRated

Hey all!

I have a Cisco 2620 I think and I need a fast ethernet WIC or a Gigabit WIC for it. I am new to Cisco WICs meaning that I don't understand the model #s yet. If anyone knows what WICS go with the router and even find a link to ones on eBay that would be amazing.

Thanks,

Matthew

This page has the supported modules and the firmware required to run them.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/2600-series-multiservice-platforms/product_data_sheet0900aecd800fa5be.html

There is a list of all WIC's and which unit they will work in here:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/1600-series-routers/15363-wics.html

The short story is that the 2620 doesn't seem to have any Ethernet or Fast Ethernet wics. You might be able to find a NM that has some more ports if thats what your after.

What is the goal here?

I got the device from a friend along with some 3650 switches that I plan to use for my lab network. My main network also uses Cisco switches but I have a WatchGuard x500 as a pfSense router I made. Anyways I want the WIC for my home lab because I only have one LAN port that is build into the router.

Thanks,

If you're just needing it for a lab and need more ethernet interfaces, you can always trunk the port to a switch and use sub interfaces (so physically you have a single connection) but logically it'll look like more like this:

Physically a simple topology looks like:

But logically it looks like:

p.s misspelt dot1q in 2nd picture oooops

I'm going to put a link to my PC specs which actually aren't my PC specs and I cry myself to sleep everyday so I can have these PC specs but I can't afford these PC specs so PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs.
