I need help choosing a graphics card.

PlasticNugget

I'm looking for a graphics card mostly for 3d animating and gaming. I have one picked out but I'm not sure about it. It is a

PNY Quadro M4000 VCQM4000-PB 8GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Full Height Workstation Video Card. On userbenchmark.com it says that this is worse than a

PNY Quadro K1200 VCQK1200DVI-PB 4GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 ATX or SFF Workstation Video Card.

unless you really need that ecc vram, buy a 1080ti or vega 64*

*64 is slower than 1080ti in gaming but in compute it should  be faster; possibly faster in rendering? research yourself into that.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

First check if the quadro you are searching for have drivers validated for the softwares you are going to use. If they are, you will get a boost compared to 10XX lineup, if they aren't just go for a 1080.

I dont think you need quadro cards for their ECC memory. Unless you do some really serious work like making models of buildings or intense calculation where you cant afford any faults or errors caused by the card, there's no point in buying a Quadro. Gaming cards are the one you should aim for

userbenchmark's results are only reliable on cards with many users, giving a huge data size because everyone's machine are different and they dont give comparisons on cards in an otherwise same system.

unless you need those certified drivers, dont get a quadro.  a 1080TI, Titan Xp or Vega 64 will see you off with more performance

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
