First build, is it compatible?

This'll be my first build and to be honest building a computer seems straight forward and daunting at the same time lol. I'm nervous that I might've overlooked something and it'll just become a nightmare when I go to assemble it. I need someone who knows what they're talking about to check to make sure it's all compatible and that there won't be any clearance issues. Thanks.

compatible, but i don't recommend the 7600k. get a 1600 and oc with stock cooler. the NEX is also poor value, get a different unit.

Well I don't know squat about AMD. Why would I choose AMD over Intel? I'm new to this and so far the majority of my research is on Intel based system. Unless they don't differ much, I don't see why I should go with AMD.

amd offers 6 cores and 12 threads unlocked for the same price that intel charges you for a quad core with only 4 threads.

1. Intel new line up coming soon bad to buy now

the 1600 has 2 extra cores with hyperthreading which helps make your gaming experience much smoother compared to the 7600k which falls apart when heavy action occurs compared to the 1600. it's also much better in multitasking due to those extra cores and comes with a decent stock cooler.

Yeah, its compatible, PCPartPicker compatibility checker is pretty accurate most of the time. 7600k is ok, but I think Ryzens are now better value for price.

Compatible but the PSU is trash and the CPU cooler is a poor option since you can get newer, better, nicer, quieter, easier to install coolers for less. Raijintek Aidos, Cryorig M9i and Be Quiet! Pure Rock (Slim) for example. Or Cryorig H7 for a little more is significantly better. Ryzen 5 is undoubtedly a better choice than Intel, at least until Coffee Lake. i5s are gash right now.

Grab a Cryorig H7 or Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3 if you want an aftermarket cooler. Up the 1060 to a GTX 1070 if you're using a monitor greater than 1080p60Hz.

The ryzen 5 1600 doesn't " kick it's butt" it's more complicated 

 as you can see here in this benchamrk the i5 7600k has superior single thread performance but the ryzen 5 has better multi thread performance.

If it was me buying a computer I would wait for the intel 8th gen I am patient and I want a 6 core from intel with badass single thread performance hell yeah that's the best of both worlds but here you can see that half the time the r5 is better and half the time the i5 is better

I'm not a fan of the "get Ryzen!" when the OP is wanting Intel, but i5's are a terrible value today. None of it is fanboyism, it's just true.

 

My old 2500k lasted a long time and the 6700k that replaced it is an awesome chip for gaming (went to GF since her PC was dying). Kabylake has been a very disappointing generation to the point I went AMD for my new personal build over the more obvious 7700.

 

With poor thermals (whatever mayonnaise they have the nerve to slap under the IHS) and complacency, Intel were caught with their pants down. They still have the IPC single core advantage, but the pricing for a pure 4 core CPU being the same as a 6 core 12 thread beast is insulting.

 

Building new today, I would go AMD if you wanna spend under 300usd for a chip or wait for Coffeelake to see if Intel will actually give consumers more for their dollar next gen.

 

Edit: Just wanted to add, I'm glad AMD is offering actual competition again. Ryzen definitely has some kinks and I do miss easy mode 4.5Ghz clocks, but it's a step in the right direction for both companies!
