Help With Blurry Text on New Display

Hi guys, I just bought a Asus PG279Q and I'm having trouble getting it to play nicely with my system even after installing the latest driver from Asus. Despite being a 1440p monitor my PC "recommends" running it at 1920x1080 and when run in that resolution everything is huge but looks ok. Once I switch to the 2560x1440 resolution all the text gets very blurry and difficult to read, I tried playing with the scaling options but nothing I do seems to offer any improvement. When I plugged the monitor into my 6700K's integrated GPU everything looked great until the driver updated as the iGPU had never been enabled before, and after updating the driver the text got very blurry again. Playing with the iGPU display settings under graphics options > panel fit I found I had 4 options: "Maintain display scaling", "scale full screen", "center image", and "maintain aspect ratio". Once I selected a new option everything looked great again regardless of which option I chose.

 

Obviously I don't want to keep running off the iGPU as it can barely handle this resolution for video playback and any games are completely out of the question. I was hoping someone could tell me what setting I'm overlooking in trying to get my GTX550ti working with this monitor in Windows 10, any help is greatly appreciated.

what cable are u using? and check the port standards on that card and what there rated resolutions are as a card that out might not even be able to run 1440p resolution

I'm using an HDMI cable as that and DVI are the only options on the GTX550ti, according to Nvidia's website that card has a maximum digital resolution of 2560x1600

Fermi cards have HDMI 1.3a which should handle 1440p 60 Hz just fine. Try setting a Custom Resolution in the NVIDIA control panel under Change Resolution -> Customize, set 2560 × 1440 at 60 Hz, and set timing standard to CVT Reduced Blank.

You can also try running the ClearType adjustment tool if it's just text that's blurry.

Thank you very much, I had set a custom resolution earlier but I left the timing set to automatic, once I changed the timing standard to CVT reduced black everything looked exactly that way it should.
